Ōsumi Ken'ichirō

Ōsumi Ken'ichirō ( Japanese 大 隅 健 一郎 ; born October 3, 1904 in Gamagōri ( Aichi Prefecture ); died March 19, 1998 in Nishinomiya ) was a Japanese lawyer specializing in commercial law.

Live and act

Ōsumi Ken'ichirō graduated from the Faculty of Law at Kyoto University in 1928 . In 1938 he became a professor at his alma mater and gained a reputation as a specialist in corporate law, securities law and other areas. In 1966 he became a judge from the Supreme Court. Before leaving the service, he ruled in 1969 in the "Akutoku no sakae case", in 1973 in the "Zen-norinkeishoku-hō jiken case" and in many other proceedings.

From 1874 to 1985 Ōsumi worked as a professor at the "Kobe Gakuin University" (神 戸 学院 大学). His publications include “Investigations into the Merger Law of Companies” (企業 合同 法 の 研究, Kigyō gōdō-hō no kenkyū) 1935, “Theory of Company Law” (会 社 法 論, Shakai-hō ron) 1954 and “Investigations into Commercial Law” (商 事法 研究, Shōjihō kenkyū) 1992.

In 1977 Ōsumi became a member of the Academy of Sciences . In 1985 he was honored as a person with special cultural merits and was awarded the Order of Culture in 1993.

  1. "Akutoku no sakae" (悪 徳 の 栄 え) is the Japanese title of the novel "Juliette" by de Sade . There was a pornography trial.
