The Şah İsmayıl -Orden ( Azerbaijani : “Şah İsmayıl” ordeni , in German: Shah-Ismail -Orden or Order of the Shah Ismail ) is an order of the Republic of Azerbaijan . When it was introduced in 1993, it was the second highest of four orders in the Republic of Azerbaijan ; since 2017 it has been the third highest of ten orders in the republic. It is the highest order of military merit in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On 10 November 1992, confirmed National Assembly of Azerbaijan Decree no. 370 of the second President of Azerbaijan abulfaz elchibey about "the establishment of orders and medals of the Republic of Azerbaijan" ( Azərbaycan Respublikasının orden və medallarının təsis edilməsi haqqında ) with the initial four Orders Istiqlal , Shah İsmayıl, Azərbaycan Bayrağı and Şöhrət . With Decree No. 755 of the third Azerbaijani President Heydər Əliyev of December 6, 1993 on the “Approval of the Statute and Description of the Şah-İsmayıl Order of the Republic of Azerbaijan” ( Azərbaycan Respublikasının “Şrbaycan Respublikasının“ Şrbayıl Şah İsmayıl ”ordenin ha İsmayıl ) the order was officially founded.
The Şah-İsmayıl Order received its first revision on February 6, 1998 by Amendment Decree No. 429-IQD. With Decree No. 64-VQD of December 18, 2015, the Şah-İsmayıl Order received a revision for the second time.

Award criteria and wearing style
"1. The 'Şah-İsmayıl' order, the highest military order of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is awarded to high-ranking generals and officers of the armed forces of Azerbaijan .
2. The 'Şah-İsmayıl' medal is awarded:
- for special services in the organization and strengthening of the armed forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
- for special services to ensure and protect the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
- for excellent military service;
- for special services in emergency situations in the republic.
3. The 'Şah-İsmayıl' order is worn on the left side of the chest and in the presence of other orders and medals of the Azerbaijan Republic after the 'İstiqlal' order. "
