Orders and decorations of the Republic of Azerbaijan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The orders and decorations of the Republic of Azerbaijan were issued by a decree of the then President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Əbülfəz Elçibəy of November 10, 1992, but the first orders and medals were not donated and awarded until the following year. The highest honor in Azerbaijan, the honorary title of national hero of Azerbaijan , was already decreed on March 25, 1992 by a decree of President Ayaz Mütəllibov and was first awarded on June 6, 1992.

history

After the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan on May 28, 1918, it became necessary to create a state anthem, a state coat of arms, a state seal and order. To this end, competitions were placed in newspaper advertisements in the following two years . The drafts sent in for a Müstəqillik Order (Order of Independence) never came to a conclusion, since with the overthrow of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on April 28, 1920, any work on it was prohibited. In 1990 the archives found over 100 drafts, which were published in 1992 by the İşıq publishing house as Azərbaycan Demokratie Respublikasının rəmzləri (Symbols of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan).

After the establishment of Soviet power in Azerbaijan, the wearing of orders and decorations of the Russian Tsarist Empire was banned. The first award of the Azerbaijani Soviet Socialist Republic (AsSSR) was the "Honorary Proletarian Breast Sign " ( Fəxri Proletar Döş Nişan ) , with which around 20 people were awarded between 1920 and 1921. In 1920, the Order of the Red Banner of the AsSSR ( “Qırmızı bayraq” ordeni ) was founded, whose model was the Red Banner Order of the Russian Socialist Federal Soviet Republic (RSFSR); it was awarded to 53 people. A year later, the Order of the Red Labor Banner of the AsSSR ( “Qırmızı Əmək Bayrağı” ordeni ) followed , which also found its model in the variant of the RSFSR .

After the establishment of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the President's Decree No. 22-XII of February 5, 1991 announced competitions for the design of state symbols, orders and medals, and Decree No. 90-XII of March 28, 1991 made the competition more precise Are defined. On November 10, 1992, Decree No. 370 entitled Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Establishment of Orders and Medals of the Republic of Azerbaijan ( Azərbaycan Respublikasının orden və medallarının təsis edilməsi haqqında Azərbaycan Respublikası Qanununun ) came into force.

Honorary title

During the time of the Soviet Union, in addition to the honorary titles of the Soviet Union , comparable honorary titles were also awarded in the Union Republics and Autonomous Republics, which mostly served as a preliminary stage to those of the Union as a whole. On August 26, 1983, 45 honorary degrees were established by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet . After Azerbaijan's declaration of independence on October 18, 1991, however, no practice was introduced for honorary titles, so that in the period between 1991 and 1993 the former titles of the Soviet Union were awarded on behalf of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This practice was only discontinued after June 24, 1993 and no further honorary degrees were awarded.

An exception is the title of national hero introduced by the President's Decree No. 331-XII of March 25, 1992 ( “Azərbaycanın Milli Qəhrəmanı” adının müəyyən olunması haqqında ) :
