Štefan Rozkopál

Štefan Rozkopál (* 1965 ) is a diplomat from Slovakia .

Career

Rozkopál studied at the Law Faculty of the Comenius University in Bratislava . From 1985 he continued his studies in the Soviet Union at the Moscow State Institute for International Relations .

In 1994 he started working as an official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia. Here he was responsible for the Southeast Asia region until 1995. Further positions in the field of foreign relations and international trade in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Affairs followed. From 2002 to 2005 Rozkopál worked at the Slovak Embassy in Canada . Here he was the head of the mission as Charge d'affairs.

In August 2009, Rozkopál, succeeding Peter Holásek , took up the post of Slovak Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Indonesia . Based in Jakarta , Rozkopál had additional accreditations as ambassador for East Timor , the Philippines and Singapore . Rozkopál was the first to become Slovakia's ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Unlike other ambassadors in Jakarta, another ambassador was accredited for Malaysia and Brunei during this period. For Singapore, Rozkopál handed over his accreditation to President Sellapan Ramanathan on September 22nd, 2009. The accreditation for ASEAN was handed over by Rozkopál to Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan on February 10th, 2010. Rozkopál's term in Jakarta ended in September 2013. Michal Slivovič was the new ambassador .

From September 2013 Rozkopál was Director General of the Foreign Trade Department and the Foreign Policy and European Affairs Department in the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Commerce of the Slovak Republic and at the same time served as the permanent representative of Slovakia to the Commission for Trade Policy of the European Union until 2015 . Since July 9, 2015, Rozkopál, succeeding Jána Šotha , has been the head of the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic, which is responsible for the official, organizational and technical activities of the President.

Štefan Rozkopál is married and has three daughters.

In addition to his mother tongue, Rozkopál speaks English, Russian, German and Indonesian.
