Žeľezničná spoločnosť Slovensko, as (German literally Railway Company Slovakia AG ), short name: ZSSK , is a state railway company in Slovakia .

history

The former company Železničná spoločnosť , as was split up on January 1, 2005 into the two successor companies Železničná spoločnosť Cargo Slovakia for freight transport and Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko, as for passenger transport .

Travel expenses policy

Since November 17, 2014, the ZSSK has been transporting EU citizens or permanent residents in the EU who are schoolchildren, students or retired people, after prior registration, free of charge, provided that sufficient space is available. Minors up to 15 years of age and seniors from 62 years of age are also transported regardless of their nationality or place of residence. However, this offer is not without exception. The IC express train class is excluded from this.
