The multiple units of the Slovak Series 671 are electric double-decker - multiple units of the Slovakian railway company Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK) for regional traffic.
history
On December 30, 2008, the ZSSK signed a contract for the delivery of ten double-decker multiple units of the 671 series, which are structurally equivalent to the ČD 471 “CityElefant” series . In contrast to these, the trains are equipped with two-system equipment for overhead line voltages of 25 kV at 50 Hz AC and 3 kV DC voltage and a maximum speed of 160 km / h. The units are intended for regional traffic on the main Slovak route between Žilina , Trenčín and Košice . The first train was to be delivered 18 months after the contract was signed and the last to be put into operation after 47 months.
The first multiple unit was presented on February 5, 2010 with a ceremony on the factory premises in Ostrava. The first test drives took place on May 27, 2010 between Žilina and Varín . The next day the train was presented to the public in Žilina. Since December 12, 2010, the two trains, which were initially supplied as test samples, have been in use on the Slovak main highway as planned.
The contract to build the remaining eight multiple units was signed in June 2013. The delivery was completed by the end of 2015.
Thales will equip the trains with ETCS on-board equipment.
