Žilvinas Padaiga

Žilvinas Padaiga (born December 4, 1962 in Kaunas , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian politician, doctor and professor of public health.

Life

1980–1986 Žilvinas Padaiga studied at the Kaunas Medical Academy (specializing in paediatrics ) and completed a master’s degree in public health at the University of Kuopio in Finland in 1993 and 1994 , where he also completed his habilitation from 1994–1995. 1986–1990 Padaiga worked as an assistant at the chair for children's diseases at the medical academy, then until 2001 as a research assistant at the institute of the Kauno medicinos universitetas . Since then, Padaiga has been a professor at the Chair of Prophylactic Medicine at the Faculty of Public Health. 2002–2004 he was Vice Rector for Study Affairs at the Medical University. From December 7, 2004 to June 1, 2006, Padaiga was the Lithuanian Minister of Health.
