Əli Əsədov

Əli Hidayət oğlu Əsədov (born November 30, 1956 in Naxçıvan , Azerbaijani SSR ) is an Azerbaijani politician and economist who is currently serving as Prime Minister of Azerbaijan after being nominated for this office by President İlham Əliyev on October 8, 2019 . He is considered a close ally of the authoritarian ruling Əliyev. He is a member of the New Azerbaijan Party .

biography

Əli Əsədov was born on November 30, 1956 in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . In 1974 he graduated from Baku high school and studied at the Russian Plekhanov University of Economics in Moscow , which he graduated in 1978. From 1978 to 1980 he served in the Red Army .

In 1980 he started working as a chief laboratory assistant at the Institute of Economy of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijani SSR. Between 1981 and 1984 Əsədov continued his education at the Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in Moscow, where he received his postgraduate diploma in economics .

From 1989 to 1995, Əli Əsədov worked as an associate professor and head of the department at the Institute of Social Management and Political Science in Baku before going into politics. In the first Azerbaijani parliamentary elections on November 12, 1995, he was elected as a representative of the New Azerbaijan party according to proportional representation for the term of office from 1995 to 2000 as a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan .

On April 17, 1998, he was appointed Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan for Economic Affairs. According to the decree of President İlham Əliyev of November 30, 2012, Əsədov was appointed Deputy Head of Presidential Administration and in 2017 Advisor to the President of Azerbaijan on Economic Affairs. Əsədov is considered a close ally of President Əliyev. In October 2019, following the resignation of Novruz Məmmədov , he was elected Prime Minister with 105 votes to 0 in the National Assembly.
