Ștefan Dimitrescu (born January 18, 1886 in Huși , † May 22, 1933 in Iași ) was a Romanian painter .

After studying cello at the Conservatory of Iași, Dimitrescu studied from 1903 to 1908 at the Școala de arte frumoase with Gheorghe Popovici and Emanoil Bardasare . From 1912 to 1913 he studied in Paris at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière .

Dimirescu's experiences as a soldier in the Romanian army in World War I were formative. In 1917 he founded the group Arta română in Iași with the painters Camil Ressu , Iosif Iser and Marius Bunescu and the sculptors Dimitrie Paciurea , Cornel Medrea , Ion Jalea and Oscar Han . With Oskar Han, Francisc Șirato and his college friend Nicolae Tonitza he founded the Grupul celor patru in 1926 . In 1927 he became a teacher in Iași at the Școala de Arte Frumoase , which he directed from 1928 until his death.
