ʻOneata is a small island in the Tongatapu archipelago in the north of Tongatapu in the Pacific . Politically, it belongs to the Kingdom of Tonga .

geography

The Motu is located off the north coast of the main island of Tongatapu. It belongs to the same reef crown as Manima , Pangaimotu and Nukunukumotu , which mark the western end of the Piha Passage (Astrolabe Channel). The crescent-shaped island opens to the east towards the canal.

climate

The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands in the Tongatapu Group, ʻOneata is occasionally hit by cyclones .
