-genesis (from ancient Greek γένεσις genesis " birth , emergence") is the second part of a compound word and is part of numerous technical terms. In the case of adjectives , -gen is added instead (meaning, depending on the context, “originated, generated” or “generating, effecting”).

  • Current genesis : concrete current "development"; for example a perception
  • Allogenesis : “normal” diversification in the context of evolution ; see: adaptive radiation
  • anthropogenic : man-made, created under the influence of man
  • Arogenesis : rare, extensive development in the course of evolution, which makes it possible, for example, to develop new habitats
  • biogenic : produced by living beings
  • Biogenesis : development of a single multicellular organism
  • Blastogenesis : Development of the blastocyst in mammals in the first few days after fertilization
  • Chalcogens : "ore formers" (plural), a group of chemical elements
  • Diagenesis : rock formation of the loose sediments
  • Embryogenesis : Development of the unborn life up to the formation of the organ systems
  • Epigenesis : genetic changes due to adaptation in the course of a lifetime
  • Fetogenesis : Development of the fetus after the organs have formed until birth
  • Gluconeogenesis : production of glucose from organic non-carbohydrate precursors in cells
  • Halogens : "Salt formers" (plural), a group of chemical elements
  • Carcinogenesis : development of cancer ( tumor , carcinoma )
  • Lithogenesis : rock formation
  • Morphogenesis : development of organs and other structures and features in the course of the development of living things
  • Mutagenesis : Creation of mutations in the genome of living things
  • Norm genesis : the creation and development process of norms
  • Ontogenesis : structural change of a unit without losing its organization, especially the development of the individual living being
  • organogenic : produced by living things (widespread in geosciences)
  • Organogenesis : the origin of organs
  • Orogeny : the formation of a mountain
  • Pathogenesis : origin and development of a disease
  • Phylogeny : the phylogenetic development of a set of living beings in contrast to ontogeny
  • Psychogenesis : Development of the psychological structure of an individual in the course of his life history
  • Salutogenesis : the concept of "health emergence" that is not widely used as an antithesis to pathogenesis
  • Somatogenesis : Development of the organs in the embryo into organs
  • Spermatogenesis : Formation of sperm , i.e. male germ cells.
  • Stasigenesis : development within the framework of evolution which largely does not include development; thus further specialization with possible restriction of the genome with constant environmental conditions
  • Symbiogenesis : the merging of two separate organisms into a single new organism
  • Syndrome genesis : mostly multifactorial development of syndromes
  • Text genesis : the creation and development process of literary works
  • Tradigenesis : evolution of knowledge (traditions)
