The last futuristic exhibition of painting 0.10 (zero – ten) ( Russian Последняя футуристическая выставка картин 0.10 (ноль – десять) Poslednjaja, which was a futurist exhibition of December 19 – nolian vystawka kartin 0.10 1915 to January 19, 1916 in the Chudoschestwennoje bjuro ( German  art office ) of Nadeschda Dobytschina in Petrograd . The exhibition is considered to be one of the most important art exhibitions of modern times , especially because of the Suprematist works by Kazimir Malevich (including the Black Square ) and the counter and corner reliefs of Vladimir Tatlin . However, a total of fourteen artists were represented in the exhibition, including seven women, some of whom are among the most important artists of the Russian avant-garde and modernism. The exhibition presented a very heterogeneous image of the avant-garde in 1915, which later largely neglected its reception, which mainly focused on Malevich and Tatlin.

In the contemporary, predominantly bourgeois and conservative art criticism, the exhibition received predominantly negative reviews.

prehistory

In March 1915 the exhibition The first futuristic exhibition of painting Tramwaj W was opened in Petrograd. A total of ten artists showed their works in this exhibition. All artists, with the exception of Alexandra Exter and Alexei Morgunow , also exhibited at 0.10. It can be assumed that originally all ten artists were supposed to exhibit again, from which the exhibition name is supposed to be derived: Zero- Ten . In addition to the Tramwaj W artists ( Xenia Boguslawskaja , Iwan Kljun , Kasimir Malewitsch, Lyubow Popowa , Iwan Puni , Olga Rosanowa , Vladimir Tatlin and Nadezhda Udalzowa ), there were six more: Natan Altman , Vasili Kamenski , Anna Kirillowa , Michail Menkow, Vera Pestel and Marie Vassilieff .

Artist

The exhibition catalog lists 154 exhibits, but a little more were exhibited overall. On the one hand, Tatlin summarized several works under one number, on the other hand, at least two more works were exhibited, as recorded by hand in a copy of the exhibition catalog. The majority of the exhibited works had only been produced shortly before, but some older works (no older than one to two years) were also shown. In addition to the rivalry between Kazimir Malevich and his followers and Tatlin and his followers, there was also a certain, almost traditional, rivalry between the Petrograd and Moscow avant-garde. However, the character of the exhibitions was more determined by the Moscow avant-garde.

The exhibition took place on the first floor.

organization

The exhibition was financed by the couple Iwan Puni and Xenia Boguslawskaja, who already financed the Tramwaj W. The exhibition took place in the gallery of Nadezhda Dobytschina. This was on the first floor of a large building designed by Domenico Adamini and built in 1824 ( location of the building ). A total of six of the ten rooms were used for the gallery. However, the exhibition 0.10 was only located in at least three and a maximum of five rooms in the gallery.

Works

While the Tramwaj W exhibition in March 1915 showed in particular cubo-futuristic works, as well as reliefs by Tatlin and Kljun and alogical pictures by Malevich, a further step in art history took place in 0.10. Tatlin showed counter-reliefs here for the first time, i.e. those that extend over the corner of a room, and Malevich showed his Suprematist works here for the first time.

Below is a table of the works on display that can still be identified today. The titles follow the catalog, the year indicates the date of manufacture. These are not taken from the catalog, as it does not contain any information, but rather the current state of art history. The usual titles for the work are given in square brackets if they differ from the catalog title.
