1,2-Dihydropyridine is a chemical compound consisting of a six-membered unsaturated ring with one nitrogen atom. Its unsaturated analogue is pyridine . 1,2-dihydropyridine is an isomer to 1,4-dihydropyridine .

presentation

The reduction of pyridine using lithium aluminum hydride gives a mixture of 1,2-dihydropyridine, 1,4-dihydropyridine and 2,5-dihydropyridine .

Biological importance

Among the 1,2-dihydropyridine derivatives, the AMPA antagonist perampanel , which is used as an anticonvulsant in epilepsy , is of biological importance .
