1-2-Switch is a party video game developed by the Japanese video game manufacturer Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch and was released when the console was released on March 3, 2017. The game makes intensive use of the Joy-Con and has the intention to show the individual possibilities of these new controllers.

Gameplay

1-2-Switch is a party game in which the focus of the players is on making interactions with the Joy-Con in order to win duels against other players. In addition to the Joy-Con and their HD rumble function, the acoustic background is given a lot of importance. For these reasons, many games can be played almost entirely without watching the television or in portable mode on the switch itself. 1-2-Switch includes 28 individual mini-games, most of which can be played with two players.

The game has received largely negative reviews. Many critics criticized the fact that many of the mini-games were only moderately entertaining and that boredom was easy. The very idiosyncratic humor and the rather high price for what was offered were often criticized. For example Mathias Oertel from 4Players writes :

"Bad, worse, 1-2 switch! With this embarrassing and completely overpriced mini-game collection you have to look for fun with a magnifying glass - and even then you rarely find it! "

Tobias Veltin from GamePro comes to the following conclusion:

"[...] As uncomplicated party fun that you can show inexperienced non-video players for a round or two, 1-2 Switch is definitely suitable. For long-term fun, however, the 28 mini-games wear out much too quickly overall. [...] "

Sales figures

In Japan, 1-2-Switch had sold a total of 176,368 times as of April 16, 2017. At least 70,000 other copies were sold in Europe and the USA .

By June 30, 2019, the game had sold around 3.01 million times.
