from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1st German Scooter Museum of the Krüger family has been located in Kaub (Rhineland-Palatinate) since summer 2010 .

history

The museum was founded as the first of its kind in 1979 by Hans Krüger (1933–2003) from Rüdesheim and his wife Elisabeth in Kettenbach . Hans Krüger bought his first Vespa in 1950 and traveled with it all over Europe, from southern Spain to the North Cape and to Moscow . He did cross-country races, road races, won the German and European championships, was the founder and first chairman of the Vespa Veteran Club Germany in 1988. His scooter collection had to move frequently, most recently it was exhibited in Aschaffenburg . When the local car museum closed, the scooters had to be put back into storage. Since May / July 2010 there has been a new home on several floors of a former kindergarten in Kaub. There the family can continue the museum after the death of the founder.

collection

The collection has a focus on Vespa, but the whole spectrum is represented: Maico , Heinkel or Moto Guzzi . Special sights are a very low motor scooter of the English parachute troops from 1943 and an Indian model called Bajaj Chetak . A total of 120 scooters are presented, another 60 are in the magazine. Spare parts for vintage cars can also be obtained from the museum.
