Moses Calvary
Moses Calvary (born February 2, 1876 in Messingwerk near Eberswalde ; died January 22, 1944 in Haifa ) was a German reform pedagogue.
Life
Calvary was the grandson of Esriel Hildesheimer . He grew up around the Hirsch Copper and Brass Works (HKM).
In Germany and, after his emigration, in Palestine, he worked as a reform pedagogue and was also known as the “Jewish Pestalozzi”. Along with Felix Rosenblüth and Kurt Blumenfeld, he belonged to the brass work group , a motor of the young Zionist avant-garde at the beginning of the 20th century.
In 1917 he married Esther Perlmann and in 1923 took over the management of the Meir Shefeya youth village for war orphans. After the divorce, Perlmann was still married to Felix Rosenblüth .
