Friedrich von Borries (born August 21, 1974 in Berlin ) is a German architect , curator , design theorist and writer .

Life

Friedrich von Borries was a member of the Young Liberals for six months at the age of 18 . He studied architecture at the University of the Arts Berlin , the ISA St. Luc Bruxelles and at the University of Karlsruhe , where he received his dissertation in Markenstadt in 2004 . Marketing strategies in urban areas with Günther Uhlig . The essayist work was published in the same year under the title Wer hat Angst vor Niketown? / Who's Afraid of Niketown ?.

From 2001 to 2003 he taught at the Technical University of Berlin , from 2002 to 2005 he was involved in project work at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation . From 2003 to 2009 he ran the raumtaktik office in Berlin together with Matthias Böttger . From 2007 to 2008 he was a visiting scholar at the ETH Zurich and MIT Cambridge as well as a visiting professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg . Von Borries was also a Research Fellow at Goldsmiths College , London . From 2007 to 2012 he was a member of the Young Academy at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and the German Academy for Natural Scientists Leopoldina.

In 2008 von Borries was general commissioner for the German contribution to the Venice Architecture Biennale . Since 2009 he has been professor of design theory at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts and heads the Friedrich von Borries project office in Berlin. For the online edition of the art magazine Monopol he writes the monthly column Unlaid Eggs , for which he invites creative people to lunch.
