108 is an American hardcore band formed in 1991 . The music reflects the Hare Krishna belief of the band members. The band's musical style is therefore also known as Krishnacore . The band name refers to the number of balls on the Japamala , a kind of prayer beads .
history
After separating from Inside Out , their guitarist and Hare Krishna supporter Vraja Kishor (Vic DiCara) founded the band 108 in 1991. Rasaraja (Rob Fish) joined them as a singer while recording an EP. Similar to the Cro-Mags and Antidote , the band put their Krishna belief in the foreground.
Her first records, Holyname and Songs of Separation , were released on Equal Vision Records . These releases were followed by participation in two documentaries : 108: The Final Tour and NYHC
After a lengthy breakup, during which DiCara emigrated to India to become a monk , the band planned to get back together for Hellfest 2005. Due to legal difficulties, the festival was canceled at the last moment, but 108 was able to book a few replacements in Philadelphia . Then they released a collection of demos and B-sides in self-published , followed by a new album called A New Beat From A Dead Heart on Deathwish Inc.
On March 23, 2010, before the release of 6:61 pm , it was announced that Rob Fish had left the band because he was no longer a Krishna believer. (Rob and Vic were no longer members of ISKCON when the band reunited in 2005.) The remaining band members then published the following statement: "108 did not split up. Rasaraja (Robert Fish) left the band, but 108 will continue with full force in a new direction and a new focus. We will write, record, and this year shows play around 18.61 to publicize and create new music. "
Rob Fish came back to the band in September 2010.
