It consists of two parts: the 19-story The House on the corner of Central Park West and West 61st Street and is connected by a glass-roofed lobby to the 35-story tower on the corner of West 61st Street and Broadway .

Building history

The building complex was built by the sons of William Zeckendorf , a well-known builder in the first half of the 20th century, together with Goldman Sachs and the company Global Holdings of the Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer between 2005 and 2008. The start of construction was preceded by years of legal dispute with a resident of the Mayflower Hotel , previously located at 15 Central Park West , which was built in 1926 in the Art Deco style by the architect Emery Roth . The architect of the new building is Robert AM Stern , who tried to approximate Manhattan's Art Deco buildings through the exterior design. The model was based on the high-rise apartment buildings designed by the architect Rosario Candela on Fifth Avenue and Park Avenue in Manhattan.

The construction costs of 15 Central Park West, including land purchases and limestone cladding, were approximately US $ 950 million . The complex contains a private access road, cinema, fitness center and swimming pool.
