Karl Hermann Tjaden

Karl Hermann Tjaden (born June 18, 1935 in Norden, East Friesland ) is a Marxist German sociologist and political scientist who taught as a professor of political economy at the Kassel University. He was an academic student of Wolfgang Abendroth and is considered a representative of the Marburg School of Political Science .

Tjaden studied sociology , political science and economics at the University of Münster , the University of Frankfurt am Main and the University of Marburg . It was there that he received his doctorate in 1963 and, after working as a research assistant, his habilitation in 1969 . Since 1970 he has been a full professor in Marburg as successor to Werner Hofmann , and since 1974 in Kassel.

From 1978 to 1979 and 2005 to 2009, Tjaden was a member of the board of directors of the Association of Democratic Scientists .

He is married to Margarete Tjaden-Steinhauer , with whom he often published together.
