There is a residential building at 16-20 North High Street in the Scottish town of Portsoy in the Aberdeenshire Council Area . In 1972 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

The three-story apartment building is on North High Street near the Old Port of Portsoy . Diagonally opposite is the also listed residential building 23-27 North High Street . A date on the northwest gable indicates the year of construction 1727. The building has an L-shaped floor plan, with the shorter leg not being added until the end of the 18th century. The west-facing main facade along the narrow street is eight axes wide. It is plastered with Harl , with natural stone surrounds. In the center, a segment arched doorway leads to the entrances on the back of the building and also offers a passage to Low Street . The entrance to house number 16 is accessible via a front staircase running along the outer wall. The entrance door is more recent. The entrances to house numbers 18 and 20 are to the rear. Twelve-part lattice windows are embedded along the facade . The steeply sloping gabled roofs are covered with slate and connect with sandstone caps along the ridges .

According to tradition, the building is said to have been linked to piracy in the past .
