1 Utama is a shopping mall in the Bandar Utama suburb of the Malaysian city of Petaling Jaya . It is operated by the Bandar Utama City Center Sdn Bhd and is continuously expanding.
Over 400,000 m² of retail space is available on six main levels.
According to the operator, 60,000 to 90,000 visitors are counted every working day and even 120,000 on weekends in 1 Utama . At 98%, the sales areas are occupied more than that of the closest competitor, the Centrepoint shopping center . The latest expansion, known as the "New Wing", opened in December 2003, but was not officially inaugurated until April 2, 2004 by the Sultan of Selangor State .
