2-38 Millbrae Crescent
An ensemble of residential buildings is located at 2–38 Millbrae Crescent in the Scottish city of Glasgow . In 1970, the building was included as a single monument in the Scottish monument lists, initially in category B. The upgrade to the highest monument category A took place in 1989.
history
The ensemble was completed in 1876. The design may have been provided by the Scottish architect Alexander Thomson, who died in 1875 . His partner Robert Turnbull directed the work.
description
The two-story ensemble is located on Millbrae Crescent on the right bank of White Cart Water in south Glasgow. It describes a flat arc. The north-facing main facades of the individual houses are three axes wide. The paired entrance doors are designed with dividing Egyptian columns and flanked by pilasters . The windows of the upper floor are equipped with pilasters capitals and intermediate Anthemien ornamented. Two crossed gables with wooden ornaments protrude from each of the closing houses . The flat sloping roofs are covered with slate. Each house is equipped with a front yard with cast iron fences.
