20 fingers
20 Fingers is a Chicago-based production team that enjoyed success in the mid-1990s.
biography
20 Fingers is considered one of the most famous US dance floor groups. It consists of the two DJs and producers Manfred "Manny" Mohr and Charlie "Baby" Rosario, who together with the Chicago singer and rapper Sandra Gillette formed a trio between 1994 and 1996 that was successful in the dance floor genre. In addition to Gillette, other singers such as Roula or Kathrina were hired. Gillette, however, was considered the group's figurehead. But also male singers and rappers like Max-a-Million (consisting of the rappers Tommye and Duran Estevez and the singer A'Lisa B.) or The Bongo Boys worked together with 20 fingers.
Characteristic for the sound of 20 Fingers were particularly monotonous melodies , protruding beats and a simple arrangement of the vocals, which gave the songs an enormous catchy character , which made them hits. Particularly simple repetitions of words such as "Bum ba da da da da", "Barara bum bum bum" or "eeny weeny teeny weeny" ensured a high recognition value .
20 Fingers achieved high chart positions not only in the USA , but also in Canada , Europe , South Africa, Southeast Asia and Japan. When the popularity of the dance floor genres waned from 1997, no further publications appeared. 2001 was followed by another small success when Mohr and Rosario for Gillette's album Did I Say That? wrote the song Sex Tonight , which became a club hit in the US.
