The 23A-12V battery , also known as A23 , A23S , 23A , CN23A , EL12 , E23A , V23A , VA23A , V23PX , V23GA , VR22 , L1028 , LR23A , LRV08 , MS21 / MN21 , MN21 or G23A , is a dry battery ( English drycell ), mainly engaged in small electronic radio equipment , such as wireless door opener systems for vehicles, "wireless" light switches and door bell buttons, garage door openers , wireless camera triggers and Bluetooth - headsets occurs.

A 23A battery is cylindrical and smaller than an AAA battery . It measures 28.5 mm in length and 10.3 mm in diameter and has a typical weight of approx. 8 g. This battery must not be confused with the similar single-cell 1.5 V batteries. A 23A battery is an 8-cell battery with a nominal voltage of 12 V. The higher voltage is necessary , among other things, for smaller and older radio remote controls such as garage door openers without a built-in DC voltage converter . The battery has a capacity of around 55  mAh .

23A batteries consist of eight individual 1.5 V alkaline button cells of the type LR932, which are enclosed in a case. The cells can be removed individually after removing the cover.

These batteries cannot normally be charged and attempting to charge them can lead to heating and, in the worst case scenario, cells to explode.
