The 2T Stalker is a reconnaissance tank developed by Belarus . Series production or regular use in the military are not known.

development

The vehicle was developed by the Belarusian defense company Minotor Service Unitary Enterprise without a specific order from the military. The first prototype was completed in 2000. Since then, further prototypes have been produced and presented at IDEX 2001 and 2003. As far as is known, the Belarusian military has placed a smaller order, but these vehicles are not yet in service. The vehicle is being offered on the export market, however, as far as is known, no orders have been placed. According to reports in 2015, it is increasingly questionable whether the vehicle will go into series production. A demonstration vehicle and seven prototypes were made. The investments to set up a series production were not made until 2015. Further problems lie in the comparatively high unit price of 4.315 million US dollars for the vehicle, which is viewed as a niche product. Although development has continued since the first conception in 1997, the concept may be out of date after 20 years. A successful launch is considered a failure.

description

The primary purpose is long-range reconnaissance. The reconnaissance tank's GM-352M chassis is a further development of the GM chassis , which is also used on the Tunguska M-1 . The diesel engine delivers 740 hp. The maximum speed on the road is about 95 km / h, the operational range up to 1000 km without additional supply. The crew consists of a driver, gunner, commander and two other optional crew members (scouts).

Armament

The primary armament consists of a fully stabilized 2A42 30 mm automatic cannon with a magazine for 500 rounds. The vehicle also has a coaxial 7.62 mm PKT machine gun with 2,000 rounds and an AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher with 116 shells. On the right and left in the outer sides of the tower there are two extendable arms for two 9M120-Ataka or 9K38-Igla guided missiles . With the fire control system, two targets can be fought simultaneously, i.e. infantry with a grenade launcher and an armored target with a 9M120. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a smoke thrower type 902V .

Armor and Defense Measures

The composite armor to withstand from a 35mm automatic cannon as such by the manufacturer frontal attack. B. the anti-aircraft tank Gepard owns. The protection against mines is comparable to that of a main battle tank . All around the tower are detectors that automatically fire smoke throwers when the vehicle is targeted by a laser-guided anti-tank missile. By avoiding sharp corners and edges and using a special paint job, the vehicle should be difficult to detect by radar and thus have stealth properties to a limited extent . Furthermore, attention was paid to low noise during development. However, the main defense of the vehicle remains its high speed and agility.
