380 kV Styria line
The 380 kV Styria line is the name of the high-voltage line that runs between Rotenturm in southern Burgenland and Zwaring-Pöls in Styria .
It has a length of 97.778 km, consists of two three-phase AC lines and is designed for a maximum output of 3 GVA . When operating at maximum transmission power, a power loss of approx. 30 MW occurs per 100 km of line length , which corresponds to a loss of approx. 1%.
The 380 kV Styria line is a joint project between VERBUND-Austrian Power Grid AG (APG) , BEWAG NETZ GmbH and Stromnetz Steiermark GmbH . Like the planned 380 kV Salzburg line , the 380 kV Styria line forms a section of the planned Austrian 380 kV high-voltage ring . The first submission of the project to the Ministry of Economic Affairs was in 1984.
The controversial line in Eastern Styria is designed as an overhead line and has been completed and in operation since June 30, 2009. The official opening took place on September 11, 2009 with festivities in the Gleisdorf substation in Eastern Styria and the Rotenturm substation in southern Burgenland.
