The Austrian Power Grid AG (APG), headquartered in Vienna, is the operator of the transmission network in Austria. The network comprises the high-voltage network with the voltage levels 380 kV with the 380-kV high-voltage ring , 220 kV and 110 kV as well as several substations and network switchgear. Austrian Power Grid is a 100% subsidiary of Verbund AG .

The network area of the Austrian Power Grid forms an independent control area in the interconnected continental European power grid . The main control center is located in Vienna's 10th district, right next to the Vienna Southeast substation . The networks in Tyrol and Vorarlberg are also connected to the APG control area by means of a cooperation agreement; The APG control area thus includes all federal states of Austria, with the exception of a corridor in Vorarlberg, which is part of the German control block. The cooperation is triggered by the EU's third energy market liberalization package, which stipulates that transmission system operators should be unbundled from their parent company, which causes high costs for small networks. Austrian Power Grid AG has been separated from the Verbund group.
With a route length of 3,430 km and lines running on it with a total length of 6,970 km, the transmission network of the Austrian Power Grid is of decisive importance for the Austrian power supply.
