The 383rd Infantry Division was a major military unit of the Wehrmacht in the German Reich .

history

On January 26, 1942, the unit was set up on the Arys military training area as one of five so-called "Rheingold divisions" of the 18th wave of replacement troops from military districts I to III .

On September 30, 1943, the division was transformed into a new type 44 division. In June 1944, when Army Group Center collapsed due to the great Soviet summer offensive, the division was given the task of defending Bobruisk as a fortress. There the division was destroyed on June 28th.
