The 44er house seen from the Leondingen town square

The 44er Haus is the municipal gallery of the city of Leonding and is centrally located on Leonding town square. The building is a listed building .

history

The building was built in 1831/1832. It bears its name today because of the house number it was given as the 44th building in the village. In the 1850s, in addition to the school classes, the first municipal administration was also located in the house. In 1877 the house was already too small and the school lessons were moved to a new, larger building.

The city library was located in the building between 1982 and 1991, and in 1995 the local council decided to set up a local history museum in house 44. In 1998 the 44er Haus was opened as a municipal gallery.
