5th Air Force Field Division

The 5th Air Force Field Division was a military association of the Wehrmacht during the Second World War . It was erected in September 1942 from excess Luftwaffe personnel on the Groß Born military training area in Pomerania and was used on the German-Soviet front from December 1942 to May 1944 . After being almost completely wiped out during the fighting in southern Ukraine, the division was finally disbanded in Bessarabia in May 1944 .
