There is a villa at 6–9 Broomhill in the Scottish town of Burntisland in the Council Area Fife . In 1977 the building was included as an individual monument in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

history

A Mrs. Beatson commissioned the twin villa in 1858. The Scottish architect Frederick Thomas Pilkington was responsible for the design, and five years later he presented his plans to the Royal Scottish Academy . The villa stands on the foundation of the former city wall Burntislands that at times I Charles was built.

description

The villa is near the east end of Broomhill Road in southern Burntisland. It is designed in a free interpretation of the neo-Gothic style. The facade is not designed uniformly. The pointed arch windows with crowns and archivolts in relief are partly coupled and separated by pillars . Three, four, six and twelve-part lead glass windows are installed. The entrance portals are designed with simple pillars and window frames. Cornices and variously designed friezes divide the facade horizontally. The facades close with a cornice . The gables are partly designed with simple stepped gables .
