The 600th Infantry Division was a German infantry division during World War II .

history

From December 1, 1944, General Vlasov's 1st Division of the Russian Liberation Army (ROA) of General Vlasov was set up as the 600th (Russian) infantry division on the Münsingen military training area for military district V by the general of the volunteer associations in the OKH . Its core consisted of remnants of the Kaminsky Brigade and Russian and Ukrainian units of the Army and the Waffen SS . The 650th Infantry Division was set up as the 2nd Division of the ROA from March 1945 . The list should be completed by the end of February 1945.

After leaving the Münsingen military training area, the 600th Infantry Division reached the Cottbus area in March 1945 and acted as a reserve during the Battle of the Oder in the hinterland at the seam between the 9th Army and the 4th Panzer Army . From April 1945 the division was under the 9th Army. The division later went under near Berlin . Most of the former Russian division members were transferred to Soviet captivity and z. Some were executed in Russia, such as B. the former division commander Sergei Bunjatschenko .

In the field post overview only the first battalions appear, so it can be assumed that no second battalions could be set up for the grenadier regiments. Likewise, only the 1st and 4th divisions are recorded for the artillery regiment.

The 600th Infantry Division was under the command of General Sergei Bunjachenko.
