from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

At 61-63 Miller Street in the Scottish city of Glasgow is a residential and commercial building formerly known as Clapperton's Warehouse . In 1970 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

description

The building was constructed in 1854. The Scottish architect John Burnet is responsible for the design . His son John James Burnet carried out extensions to the building in 1901.

The four-story building is on Miller Street in central Glasgow. The east-facing front facade of the neo-renaissance building is ten axes wide. Since the two central axes are paired into one, the facade is constructed symmetrically. The design of the shops on the ground floor no longer corresponds to the original condition. The windows above the main portal are decorated with decoratively sculptured tympana and a balcony with a cast iron balustrade . The suspicious cornices protrude further than on the other windows on the first floor. On the third floor, the windows of the six central axes are arranged in a nine-arched arcade . The facade closes with a grooved cornice .
