The building is on Robertson Street near Glasgow Central Station and the Clyde in central Glasgow. It was built in 1901 to a design by the Scottish architect John Archibald Campbell .

The building, designed in the style of the Glasgow School , has a mansard floor and has five floors. The facades are clad with red sandstone blocks . Doric columns flank the entrance portal. It closes with a fruit-ornamented lion relief and a crowned broken segmented arch gable. Stylized keystones adorn the elongated windows on the first floor. A balcony cantilevered on consoles protrudes from the fourth floor . Similar to the portal, it is designed with Doric columns. The facade closes with a sweeping cornice .

The design of the left axis differs from the rest of the facades. Simple colossal pilasters frame the triplet windows . A blasted segmented arched gable crowns the top window. The back of the building along Robertson Lane is asymmetrical. The windows on the first floor close with segmental arches .
