711 Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 711th Infantry Division was a German infantry division during World War II . The division was set up in May 1941 and was stationed exclusively in France for a very long time . In the summer of 1944 she was involved in fighting against Western Allied troops in France. In December 1944 she was transferred to Hungary and fought against the Red Army as part of the Harteneck group near Esztergom . A retreat to Bohemia followed. On May 9, 1945, the division surrendered to the Red Army just east of Prague .
