74-76 High Street (Dundee)
There is a commercial building at 74-76 High Street in the Scottish city of Dundee in the council area of the same name . In 1994 the structure was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in the highest monument category A. Furthermore, together with various surrounding buildings, it forms a category A monument ensemble.
description
The commercial building was constructed in the early 19th century. Presumably, however, fragments of a previous building from the 17th or 18th century were integrated into the masonry.
The building is on High Street in the center of Dundee. The listed ensemble 77-80 High Street is on the east side, while Gardyne's Land is on the west side. The classicistic , south-facing main facade of the three-story building is five axes wide. The flat shop windows on the ground floor are more recent. The windows on the upper floors are simply pilastrated . Between the first and second floors, a cornice with a tooth cut divides the facade horizontally. It runs out into the triangular gables that crown the windows on the outer axes . Edged dormer windows emerge from the slate roof .
