Nele Kurzke (born June 16, 1990 in Leipzig ) is a German handball player .

Career

Nele Kurzke began playing handball at HC Leipzig , where she went through all youth areas until 2008. The goalkeeper then moved to the second division club SC Markranstädt . After Markranstädt had to file for bankruptcy a year later , Kurzke joined the Frankfurt handball club , which initially ran for the 2nd team and at the same time was the third goalkeeper in the Bundesliga squad . From summer 2012 she was under contract with the second division club BSV Sachsen Zwickau . Three years later she returned to HC Leipzig. In 2016 she won the DHB Cup with Leipzig . After HC Leipzig went bankrupt in 2017, she signed a contract with the newly promoted Bundesliga club HC Rödertal . She has been guarding Bayer 04 Leverkusen's goal since the 2018/19 season . On September 16, 2018, the goalkeeper scored three goals in the Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund .

Kurzke ran for the German youth and junior national team. She won the gold medal at the U-20 World Cup in 2008 . On March 22, 2019, she made her debut for the German national team .
