79 Ceti is a sub-giant that is orbited by its planet , 79 Ceti b every 75.56 days . The star has a spectral class of G5IV and a mass of 1.0 solar masses .

Discovery of the planet

Like many other exoplanets, 79 Ceti b was discovered using the radial velocity method. The planet was created by Geoffrey Marcy et al. discovered in 2000 .

Orbit and mass of the planet

The planet orbits its star at a distance of approx. 0.35 astronomical units and has a mass of approx. 82.65 Earth masses or 0.26 Jupiter masses. Its radius is estimated to be 55,000 kilometers.
