The 9M318 is a medium -range surface-to-air guided missile from Belarusian production , which is based in part on the guided missiles from Soviet production of the " 9K37 Buk " system.
Development history
The rocket was first presented by the manufacturer OKB TSP SPLLC (OKB TSP Scientific Production Limited Liability Company) at the Belarusian armaments fair MILEX 2019 in Minsk for the upgraded Belarusian Buk versions Buk-MB2 and Buk-MB3. The OKB TSP SPLLC is a company founded in 2002, company that various on modernizing weapons systems specializes. The Belarusian armed forces do not have a large number of obsolete Soviet- era 9M38 missiles that are being replaced or modernized. The 9M318 will also be offered to foreign users of the Buk system.

An OKB-TSP-SP spokesman told Jane's that the new 9M318 missile was designed to target rapidly moving, low- radar air targets , including helicopters , tactical ballistic missiles , anti-ship missiles , cruise missiles , air-to-surface missiles and ground targets with active radar emission.
The 9M318 has a range of 3 km to 70 km and can effectively fight aerial targets at heights between 15 meters and 25 km. The flight speed is at least 1350 m / s. With a mass of 815 kg and active radar guidance, the modernized 9M318 anti-aircraft missile should be able to intercept air targets with a radar cross-section of less than 0.1 m². The rocket can withstand flight maneuvers up to 25 g. The missile's flight is divided into three phases, an unguided propulsion phase, a guided mid-flight phase and a guided final approach. It carries a HE warhead that is triggered by a radar proximity fuse.
