Lists on the subject |
The 9 × 39 mm is a Soviet subsonic medium cartridge that is used in special silenced weapons such as the Wintores sniper rifle , the AS Wal assault rifle or the OZ-14 Grosa . The projectile is very long in relation to its diameter, which is why, despite the projectile speed below the sound barrier, a comparatively high penetration rate and a long flight path are achieved.
development
The cartridge was developed from the 7.62 × 39 mm M43 cartridge . For this purpose, the sleeve of the M43 was widened to 9 mm, the other dimensions remained unchanged. The storeys are new developments.
properties
The cartridge was developed specifically for the projectile's subsonic speed in order to avoid the sonic boom. The remaining muzzle bang can be greatly reduced with a silencer.
Types

- SP-6U ( Russian СП-6УЧ ): Training variant with the ballistic properties of the SP-6.
- PAB-9 (GRAU index 7N12, Russian ПАБ-9 ): Simplified, inexpensive variant of the SP-6, which is no longer produced due to the associated disadvantages such as reduced precision and increased tube wear.
