Aşık Reyhani

Aşık Reyhani (* around 1932 in Pasinler ; † December 11, 2006 in Bursa ) was a popular poet and baglama player in Turkey .

Life

Aşık Reyhani was born in a small village in Pasinler (formerly Hasankale ) in Erzurum Province . His real name was Yaşar Yılmaz . His father, who came from Iran , first settled in Kars on the border with Armenia and later in Erzurum . Aşık Reyhani spent his childhood in the village. He learned to read and write without attending school. But he was able to get his degree in other cities by taking regular exams. He became interested in Turkish folk poetry from an early age, which was strongly supported by the presence and visits of Aşık singers. He dealt with Turkish folk tales and literature on Turkish poetry. Reyhani himself began writing lyric texts at the age of 18 and began his life as Aşık. He died in Bursa and was buried there too.

Act

He took in Konya throughout the annual 'Festival of folk poets' ( Konya Aşıklar Bayramı ) part and learned various folk poets like Huzuri Baba, Nihani, Cevlani, Efkari and Gülistan Çobanoğlu know and learned from them. He later performed several times in various European countries and in Iran and won a large number of awards. He has been invited to concerts in Europe several times and to a conference at the University of Michigan , where he was awarded an honorary doctorate for his services .
