Pasinler (formerly: Hasankale , Kurdish : Parsîn or Hesenqele ) is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Erzurum and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Erzurum (city municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 1993 . Pasinler is located in the middle of the province on the Pasin-Su , a tributary of the Macaw . The current name is of Greek origin and was later adopted by the Armenians . In the ranking of the population, the Ilçe took sixth place at the end of 2018.
history
The name of the city probably goes back to the old Armenian Phasiane. The history of Pasinler is closely linked to the history of the city of Erzurum. It begins with the construction of Hasankale fortress. A building inscription shows that it probably goes back to the Urartian king Menua . Since Pasinler and Erzurum were strategically important points, they often changed hands. Pasinler was part of the Byzantine Empire , but was conquered in 615 by the Arabs under General Habib bin Mesleme . The previously dominant Armenian in the region was replaced by Arabic. In 1084 Pasinler was conquered by the Seljuks . After the rule of the Turkish Saltukids , Pasinler became part of the Sultanate of the Rum Seljuks in 1201 . These were followed by the Ilkhan of Persia. Pasinler was then part of various Turkish beyliks . In 1387 Timur conquered Pasinler, and after him the Aq Qoyunlu ruled here. Pasinler later became Ottoman and Sultan Suleyman I had a mosque built here in 1534. With small interruptions, Pasinler remained part of the Ottoman Empire until the First World War .
According to the city logo, Pasinler received the status of a Belediye (municipality) as early as 1912 and has been part of Turkey since 1923.
