Location of Aziziye within Erzurum

Aziziye (formerly Çermük ; Kurdish Çêrmik ) is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Erzurum and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Erzurum (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 1993 . Aziziye is in the west of the province and borders the Bayburt province . Aziziye was previously called Ilıca , was a Bucak of the central district ( Merkez ) Erzurum and became independent in 1990 as a separate district. In 2008 the municipality and county were renamed Aziziye. According to the city logo, the place was also raised to a Belediye (municipality).

Aziziye was inhabited by Armenians until the beginning of the 20th century . The name Ilıca is a Turkish translation of the originally Armenian name Çermug .

The Pulur Çayı flows into the Karasu, which flows westwards at Aziziye . In the north of the Ilçe, at Serçeme Çayı, is the Kuzgun Dam .
