a-Losers (short aL ) was a German e-sports - Clan , the 2000 AOL clan was founded. The clan has played continuously in the ESL Pro Series since the second season , but has struggled with financial problems since early 2008. In 2009 the teams were transferred to a new clan called the Frankfurt 69ers .

history

The then AOL clan ( AOL stands for Advanced Online Losers ) caused a sensation when AOL Germany asked the clan in July 2001 to give up the name AOL clan and the associated domain “aol-clan.de”. The management of the clan gave in and the name a-Losers emerged from this legal battle .

For many years aL was one of the most successful German clans. In the second season of the ESL Pro Series, the clan became German champions in Counter-Strike. There were also many successes in FIFA: In 2004, Stefan “BroDo” Bromund and Daniel “Smeyer” Rasche were two of the three German FIFA players for the World Cyber Games . Two years earlier, the FIFA twins Daniel “hero” and Dennis “styla” Schellhase switched from the a-Losers to pro-Gaming just a few days before they won gold and silver at the World Cyber Games .

At the end of 2006 the clan became German runner-up in Counter-Strike in the 9th season of the ESL Pro Series. The following year he only came in ninth place two times in a row. In 2008, the longstanding main sponsor MSI separated from the a-Losers. The departure could not be compensated for by new partners.

On September 17, 2009, a Loser's chapter was finally declared ended. All business, including participation in the German Counter-Strike-EPS, was to be continued under a new organization called the Frankfurt 69ers .
