AF Golam Osmani

AF Golam Osmani (born April 1, 1933 in Silchar , Assam , † March 31, 2009 in New Delhi ) was an Indian politician ( Indian National Congress ).

Professional career

Osmani studied law at Dacca University in Bangladesh , Calcutta University in West Bengal and Lincoln's Inn in London . He obtained a Bachelor of Laws and a Barrister-at-Law and worked from then on as a lawyer .

Political career

Osmani held his first political office as a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly , where he was active for two legislative terms. From 1978 to 1981 he was cabinet minister in Assam in various departments.

In 1998 he was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha and was a member of various commissions. In 1999 and 2004 he was elected to the 13th and 14th Lok Sabha.

Private

Osmani was married to Jahanara Begum and had two sons and a daughter with her. His greatest interests were traveling, gardening and literature.
