history

The company was founded in Providence, Rhode Island, USA in 1846 by Richard Cross. In the beginning, the company still manufactured gold and silver fittings for pencils, which reflects the family's jewelry history. In 1916 the company was sold to Walter R. Boss, whose descendants are still running the company today. In 1962 the company began to expand internationally. According to the company, AT Cross products are now exported to over 140 countries. In 1972 AT Cross finally became a public company . In 1986 the magazine Wirtschaftswoche reported that the company in the USA "had 70 percent of the writing implements market under control".

The current product range from AT Cross includes ballpoint pens , mechanical pencils , gel ballpoint pens, multifunctional pens (for organizers), watches, accessories and fountain pens .
