Lincoln is a city in Providence County in the US state of Rhode Island . The population was 21,105 at the 2010 census . Lincoln is north of Providence in northeast Rhode Islands.

The city has an area of 49.1 km². Lincoln Woods State Park and several National Registers of Historic Places are in the metropolitan area .
Demographics
Lincoln's population of 21,105, found in the 2010 census , lived in 8,465 households; including 5718 families. The population density was 443 per km². 9062 residential units were recorded in the village. Of the population, 93.5% were White, 2.6% African American, 3.3% Asian, and 0.7% from other races; 2.1% said they belonged to several ethnic groups.
Of the 8,465 households, 31.9% had children under the age of 18; 52.2% were married couples living together. 27.3% of the households were single households. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.03.
The median household income in 2000 was $ 47,815 and the median family income was $ 61,257. The per capita income for Lincoln was $ 26,779. 5.2% of the population lived below the poverty line.
history
Lincoln was founded in the 1600s, and several colonial Stone Enders (a Rhode Island style that had one wall made up of a large, brick fireplace) were built in the city. An example is the Valentine Whitman Jr. House from 1694. Limestone mining has been widespread in Limerock since colonial times. Lincoln was part of Smithfield until the late 1800s .
The city itself was founded in 1871 and named in honor of Abraham Lincoln . Lincoln became an important city in the late 1800s with many textile mills located along the Blackstone River.
