The A2001 is a Class I road that was established in Sidcup in 1922 as a bypass to the central intersection of the A20 (now A211 ) and A222 .

The road begins on today's A211, the High Street , about 200 m east of the intersection of A211 and A222 and initially heads south as Church Road . After about a third of the way it swings to the west and leads under the name The Green to its end point on the A222 ( Elm Road ), about 200 m south of the intersection of A211 and A222.
