course
The A86 branches off at Spean Bridge from the A82 road coming from Glasgow and following the Great Glen from Fort William . It leads west-northwest through Glen Spean and along Loch Laggan to Drumgask on the River Spey . There the A889 road branches off to Dalwhinnie . The A86 follows the Tal das Spey on the left via Newtonmore to Kingussie . There it meets the A9 road at the eastern exit of the village . The two streets are connected by a junction , where the A86 merges with the B9152, which runs parallel to the A9 as far as Aviemore , the former route of the A9.
